Qilin, or kirin, are East Asian chimeric creatures that come in a variety of forms and colors. Most often, they combine the features of deer (antlers) and fish (scales and whiskers). They can be depicted with bodies aflame, or with wisps of fur and tufts of hair that evoke flame. Benevolent creatures, they eat no flesh and only harm the wicked. They are so gentle that they can walk on clouds or water. Qilin symbolize luck, prosperity, fertility, and longevity.
